I hope you've stopped worrying. In case you didn't know, I'm absolutely here for the journey and savour each and every word you post!
"This is why I want to be a writer—to reveal secrets that want to remain hidden."
This, so much. I've been pondering on what it is about writing and wanting to be a writing that speaks to me. To tell stories, to unravel a tale, to make people *feel* something -- all of that is wrapped up in revealing secrets that want to remain hidden. Ones that materialise into the mind and tell you that you must, must be the one to reveal them.
🥰 Awww, thank you! So glad you are enjoying these posts!
Yes! Each of us sees the world in our own way. We notice different things, make different connections, and express ourselves in our own way. Even beyond any social categories or experiences, our unique internal worlds are secrets waiting to be revealed. Which is what I think our writing can be, small corners of those internal worlds on paper. Which is super vulnerable to lay out there! Writing is such a great, many-faceted, confusing puzzle of a beast.....
Aww, thank you for commenting on it! 💖 And also, I'm sorry? Because it's not a fun space to be living in. I'm cheering for us both to safely navigate through the "worrying" space to the "doing" space! 😮💨 One baby step at a time.....
For one: Realising that written English and spoken English are different was a revelation for me back in 2016 because it made me realise that despite us typing it, almost everything we write on social media is spoken English, which is what leads to so many misunderstandings.
For two: Everything about this post. RELATABLE. I realise we have discussed it, but also, you really captured the specific pain points of writing/not-writing.
For three: I am excited for whatever you publish and on whatever schedule (or lack of schedule) you opt for!
Awww, thank you for your excitement! 🥰 It's fun to think about all the possibilities....!
The writing / not writing. It's such torture. I have to remind myself that no matter how bad I think in my brain writing is going to feel, it's going to feel better than sitting in this not-writing place. And if getting to the writing place means breaking things along the way, I guess they needed to be broken....as awful as that seems to feel. But now that I am on the other side of the breaking, it feels quite great, so.......why is artisting so fraught with pits and chasms.....
Ooo, great point about social media. It IS spoken English. No wonder all the feelings get in the way.....
Brilliant post.

You and I suffer from many of the same thoughts and roadblocks. I feel so seen! I loved this post for its honesty. Thank you for sharing it with us.
